The tent card does the talking, printed from your jar's kit, standing on the counter. Customers scan while you serve the person in front of them.

The whole stall, in one jar

Everything below comes with every TipJar.nz jar. No add-ons, no tiers.

🥡

A menu that knows your stock

List your items with prices and photos. Give anything a stock count and it sells itself out; flip it back with one tap when the next batch lands.

🧾

A POS in every apron pocket

The live order queue, cash sales, and a till that balances itself. On any phone, no hardware. See how the POS works.

GST sorted

GST-registered? Mark the jar once and your menu items and receipts carry the GST detail. Your accountant gets tidy numbers, not a shoebox.

Payouts to your bank

Card takings flow to your bank account through Stripe, the payment platform behind much of the internet. Every sale is itemised on your dashboard.

Helpers without logins

Your mate minding the stall doesn't need an account. Share the private POS link, they unlock it with a PIN, and they're serving.

No terminal, no rental, no lock-in

The maths

A card terminal wants money before your first sale: buying or renting the hardware, then fees on top, whether or not it rains on market day.

$0

upfront: no hardware to buy or rent

$0

per month: no monthly fees, no contracts

~$23

all-in on a $500 Saturday of card sales

That ~$23 is everything: TipJar.nz's 2% plus standard card processing. Skip a rainy weekend and pay nothing at all. Run your own numbers on the pricing page.

Common concerns

What does it cost?+

TipJar.nz takes 2%, and standard card processing (roughly 2.7% + 30c a transaction) applies on top. Call it about 5c in the dollar all-in. Here's the thing: card-paying customers consistently spend more than the ones digging for coins, so one extra $6 coffee covers the fees on $120 of sales. A stall that can't take cards doesn't save 5%. It loses the sale.

Do I need a card machine or EFTPOS terminal?+

No. Customers pay on their own phones: Apple Pay, Google Pay, or card. Your only equipment is the printed QR code and, if you want the live queue, any phone with a browser.

The market has no wifi. Will it work?+

Yes. Customers pay over their own mobile data. No stall wifi involved. Your POS phone needs a data connection to show the live queue, the same as any card terminal would.

Can customers still pay cash?+

Of course, it's a market. Ring cash sales up in the POS in two taps so they sit in the same queue and the same daily total, and use the till feature to count off the float at the end of the day.

What happens when I sell out of something?+

Tap "sold out" on the item in your POS and it greys out on the menu instantly, so nobody orders the kimchi fries that ran out at noon. Set stock counts and items even sell themselves out automatically.

How do I get paid?+

Connect your bank account once (Stripe handles the verification) and card takings are paid out to it automatically. Every sale is itemised on your dashboard for your records.

Do my helpers need accounts?+

No. Share the private POS link and the 4-digit PIN, and anyone minding the stall can serve from the queue. They never see customer emails or your account, and you can lock the link again any time.
