Two things that change how your club collects money

Most clubs still rely on lump-sum invoices and bank transfers. These two features fix that.

1

Memberships that run year-round

Most clubs only collect fees at the start of the season, and lose members the moment the season ends. With monthly memberships, revenue flows all year. Players and supporters stay connected to the club even when they're not playing, because $15 a month is a lot easier than a $300 lump sum that only covers the playing season.

2

Season subs, split across months

Players always ask for split payments. Tracking partial bank transfers on a spreadsheet is a nightmare. Instalments let players commit to the full amount and pay it off automatically. The treasurer doesn't chase anyone, and the club knows exactly what's coming in.

Common questions

How do instalments work? +
You set up a menu with instalment options (e.g. 6 × $50). The player picks a plan, enters their card, and payments are collected automatically each month. You see each payment land in your dashboard. No chasing required.
Can we track who's paid their subs? +
Yes. Your dashboard shows every payment in real time: who paid, when, which plan they're on, and how many instalments are left. One-click CSV export for the treasurer.
What about players who pay late or miss a payment? +
If a card payment fails, the player is notified automatically and can update their card. You can see the status in your dashboard. No awkward conversations at training.
Can members stay on after the season? +
That's the idea. Monthly memberships run until the member cancels, so supporters, social members, and off-season players stay connected without re-signing up each year.
What does it cost? +
A flat 2% platform fee on what you collect. Instalments and subscriptions have an additional $1 per member per quarter plan fee. No setup costs, no contracts. Payment processing (Stripe) is separate and priced at standard NZ rates (~2.7% + 30c for a domestic card).
Is it secure? +
Yes. Payments run through Stripe, which is PCI-DSS Level 1 certified, the same security standard used by banks. Your club never handles card details; Stripe does.
Do we need special equipment? +
No. Just a phone or laptop. Players pay from their own devices via a link or QR code. No EFTPOS terminals to rent.
Is TipJar a charity or a business? +
A small New Zealand private business, funded entirely by the 2% platform fee. No ads, no data resale. Based in Aotearoa, support from a real person. More on the about page.
